Autumn leaves at Tofukuji Temple in Kyoto (preserved version)

This article summarizes the autumn leaves at Tofukuji Temple in Kyoto from the beginning to the end, and introduces the changes from October 29th to December 15th, 2021 with photos.

You may think this is an old article, but the period of autumn leaves at Tofukuji Temple is generally as per the date of this article, both before and after 2021. If you are coming to Kyoto to see the autumn leaves, please use this as a reference when planning your trip.

By the way, the busiest time every year is from the last week of November to the first week of December. There is no parking lot, so we recommend using the Keihan Railway or JR Nara Line.(Please check the map at the end of the article)

Changes from October 29, 2021 to December 15, 2021

Since October 29th of this year, we have been delivering updates on the autumn leaves about twice a week. This year, the temperature is high until early November, so it feels like the season for autumn leaves has been delayed a little. Although the scenery wasn’t the best, I think the period of autumn leaves was the same as usual.

End of autumn leaves season (December 15th)

Gaun Bridge, where you can’t even stop during the peak of the autumn foliage season, is now deserted.

There is a historical building in the deserted precincts. Although the special visit has ended, it is worth seeing just to see the exterior.

I also saw a monk for the first time in a while.

Even after the fall foliage season ends, you can still visit the Tofukuji Honbo Garden (Hojo) and Tsutenkyo Kaizando. Tofukuji Temple, where there are few people, is filled with the sounds of wild birds.

What did you think of the changing colors of the autumn leaves? Please refer to the articles for each date regarding the situation of tourists.
